Sandy Stream
May 2024
We did this work for a nice couple who had just purchased their dream home in Sandy, OR. They had nine acres with some really lovely terrain features including a wide stream, a little ‘campsite’ next to it, a stand of mature red cedar trees, and much more! Working this site was a real pleasure even though it was a lot of work!
The goats did great on this site. The red cedar trees had grown so densely that they were preventing access to much of the stream, and large stands of blackberry had choked out much of the property. There were also some significant slopes that would have been tough to manage with a mower or tractor. There is a natural water seep that made much of the ground along the stream too soft for heavy equipment. The clients are interested in potentially managing the site with their own livestock one day so we had a lot of conversations about the best way to make that happen.
